    Shutter Style

Our plantation shutters come in 3 different styles, each offering its own balance of privacy, design & functionality:

    Full Height:

Designed to cover the entire height of the window - the most favoured choice thanks to their timeless appearance and classic, versatile design.

    Café Style:

Ideal for spaces where complete privacy is not necessary - perfectly suited for windows with a naturally divided top and bottom section, offering a lighter, open feel.

    Tier On Tier:

Designed with top and bottom sections, allowing you to open each Shutter independently to manage light and privacy just how you want, with added flexibility every day.

    *Louvre Width

    Louvre Width

All Shutter styles can be ordered with louvres in 63mm, 76mm or 89mm widths, giving you control over both light levels and appearance.

    • 63mm: Classic and traditional, perfect for smaller windows or spaces where privacy is a priority, with more slats overall.
    • 76mm: A balanced option for both modern and traditional interiors, offering great privacy while still allowing a good view.
    • 89mm: Sleek and contemporary, maximises light and provides a more open view. Best suited for larger windows, with fewer slats overall.
    *Tilt Rod
    ×

    Tilt Rod

    Standard:

Standard Tilt Rod: A traditional front-facing rod positioned in the center of the shutters, allowing you to adjust the slats easily with a handle.

    Hidden:

Hidden Tilt Rod: Discreetly fitted to the back of the slats, this option lets you tilt them by hand for a clean, uncluttered look.
    *Panel Number
    ×

    Panel Number

The panel number describes how many shutter panels your window will have and which way they open. All shutters with 2 or more panels will have astragels (overlapping stiles) at the joins for improved light reduction and privacy. The configuration options depend on both the shutter style you select and the window size you input.
    Examples of Common Configurations:

    1 Panel – Left:

One single panel that opens to the left.

    1 Panel – Right:

One single panel that opens to the right.

    2 Panels – 1 Left, 1 Right:

Two panels that open seperately to each side.

    2 Panels – Both Left:

Two panels that fold and open together to one side - both left.

    2 Panels – Both Right:

Two panels that fold and open together to one side - both right.

    3 Panels – 1 Left, 2 Right:

Three panels in total: One opening to the left. Two folding to the right (the left panel opens first).

    3 Panels – 2 Left, 1 Right:

Three panels in total: Two folding to the left. One opening to the right (the right panel opens first).

    4 Panels – 2 Left, 2 Right:

Four panels in total: Two folding to the left. Two folding to the right (the right side opens first).

The max width for 3 panel is 1800mm

The max width for 4 panel is 2400mm

The max width for 2 panel is 1200mm

The max width for a hidden tilt rod with 1 panel is 600mm

The max width for a standard tilt rod with 1 panel is 800mm

    *Break Point

    ×

    Break Point

A Tier on Tier shutter is made of two independently opening sections – one on top of the other. The break point is the exact height where the lower tier shutters end and the upper tier of shutters begin.

When ordering, you can choose how high up you'd like this division to be. For example, some customers prefer the break point to line up with a window sash or a natural horizontal feature, while others set it for convenience and style.

    *Frame Style
    ×

    Frame Style

The frame is the structure that surrounds your shutters, holding the panels securely in place inside the window opening. It ensures stability, allows smooth operation, and gives the shutters a neat, finished look.

    L Frame:

L Frame: A simple, square-edged frame fitted inside the recess to support the shutters. It gives a clean, minimal look and works best on windows that are fairly straight and even.

    Z Frame:

Z Frame: A frame with a decorative lip that overlaps the wall around the recess. It not only supports the shutters but also hides uneven edges and gaps, creating a stylish trim finish.

4-Sided Frames vs 3-Sided Frames - What's the Difference? 4-Sided Frame (Top, Bottom, Left & Right): A 4-sided frame surrounds your shutter completely, giving a smart, integrated look. It provides extra stability and reduces light gaps around the edges. 3-Sided Frame (Top, Left & Right Only): A 3-sided frame has no bottom section, which means when you open your shutters, there's no frame sitting on the windowsill. It's a great choice if you have a decorative sill — such as wood, tile, or stone — that you'd like to keep visible. This design also makes cleaning simpler, especially in bathrooms, as you can easily wipe down the sill without any obstructions.

Our Café Style Shutters can be supplied with either a three-sided frame (left, right, and bottom) or a two-sided frame (left and right only). A top frame is not included with café style shutters, as this would create a visible frame across the middle of the window when the panels are open. Opting for no bottom frame means there's no frame sitting on the windowsill - an ideal choice if you have a decorative sill made of wood, tile, or stone that you'd like to keep visible. This design also makes cleaning easier, allowing you to simply wipe down the sill without a frame being present. If a two-sided frame is selected, we recommend adding a magnet plate at the bottom to ensure the doors close flush. This plate is fixed to the sill and projects by 22 mm.

    Mid Rail
    ×

    Midrail

For shutters with a drop over 1700mm, a mid-rail is required for strength and stability. If your window has a transom, align the mid-rail with it. Where there is no transom, the mid-rail is usually placed halfway up the shutter. For patio doors, we recommend positioning it to line up with the door handle. Mid-rails have a standard height of 61mm.

The max height with a mid-rail is 2506mm
